GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A suspect is on the loose just blocks away from an elementary school carnival after a critical shooting at Union Avenue and Dickinson Street Wednesday afternoon.
Grand Rapids police say that a man fired two shots just before 4:30 p.m., striking another man in the neck. He then fled the scene, and the victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition. He is expected to recover.
The shooting happened four blocks away from Dickinson Elementary School, where hundreds of kids are attending a back to school carnival. The only description provided by police of the suspect was that he was a black male in dark clothing.
