TEXAS TOWNSHIP, Mich. – The woman who was killed after trying to cross Interstate 94 in Kalamazoo County’s Texas Township was attempting to hitchhike to California with her sister.
51-year-old Tammy Hartman of Otsego never made it across I-94 at 9th Street late Monday evening. Investigators tell FOX 17 Hartman and her sister were picked up in Otsego.
At some point, MSP say an argument ensued in the vehicle. That is when the sisters were dropped off in Texas Township. Hartman attempted to cross the highway to go to a restaurant when she was struck by a semi-truck then an MDOT vehicle.
MSP is hoping to make contact with the driver who dropped them off in Texas Township, however, investigators do not have much information to go on.
