GRAND RAPIDS,Mich. — 16-Year-Old Louis Enrique Gonzalez has been identified as the August 24 shooting victim in the 700 block of Coate Ct SW. According to Grand Rapids police neighbors reported hearing the sound of gunshots and notified police. Responding officers located Gonzalez on the sidewalk and called for a medical response. Gonzalez was transported to Spectrum’s Butterworth Campus, but died a short time later.
Investigators have learned from witnesses that Gonzalez was standing on the sidewalk when shots were fired from a vehicle travelling west on Coat Ct. That vehicle has been described as a dark-colored four door vehicle, possibly a late-model Chevrolet. It is believed that it was occupied by at least 3 male subjects.
The Grand Rapids Police Department Major Case Team is investigating.
