Person Shot In Kentwood; Police Still Searching For Suspect

KENTWOOD, Mich – A man was shot in the lower torso after a party in Kentwood, the latest in a wave of recent shootings in the Grand Rapids suburb.

Police say the call came in a little before midnight at 995 Diane Street Southeast after witnesses heard gun shots.

According to Captain Richard Roberts of the Kentwood Police, the 22-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound and was conscious, but uncooperative, when they arrived.

Kentwood police set up a perimeter on the scene and called in Wyoming K-9 units to search for the suspect who fled on foot.

Police say neither the suspect or the victim actually live at the residence.

The victim’s name is not being released at this time, but he has non-life threatening injuries.
