VAN BUREN COUNTY, Mich. — A 22-year-old woman was taken into custody after allegedly lying to Van Buren deputies about a domestic dispute with her boyfriend.

According to a press release, Alejandra Aguilar, of Paw Paw Township, told officers her boyfriend assaulted her with a knife and then fled and was in possession of a handgun.  When deputies located the unidentified 28-year-old, however, they gradually uncovered a very different story when both he and Aguilar were questioned.

“She admitted that she assaulted her boyfriend and cut herself attempting to force entry to the apartment he had taken refuge in after the assault,” the release reads.

Aguilar is in the Van Buren County Jail after being arraigned Friday on charges of false report of a felony and domestic violence.  She is currently being held on $2,500 bond.
