JASPER COUNTY, Ind. — A 55-year-old Grand Rapids trucker was involved in a a three-vehicle crash in northern Indiana that killed seven people.
Howard Stratton, a truck driver for Griffin Transportation Incorporated, rear-ended a Jeep, which pushed into the back of another semi during a traffic backup on northbound I-65, according to Indiana officials.
The Jeep erupted in flames, which also partially engulfed both trucks. All seven people that were killed were in the Jeep. Stratton was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
