GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The death of 2-year-old Zaeyana Driggs-Threats has been ruled a homicide and her father, 21-year-old DeShawn Threats, will be charged with the crime.

Threats was taken into custody Aug. 14 on child abuse charges and unrelated warrants, but is now facing homicide charges after the results of an autopsy show the 2-year-old died of blunt force trauma to the abdomen.

He is expected to be arraigned in 61st District Court Friday, Aug. 16.  The other child between Threats and Zaeyana’s mother was taken into protective custody by the Department of Human Services.

A candlelight vigil has been scheduled for Zaeyana outside her Fourth Street home 7 p.m. Thursday.
