GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Emergency responders performed a water rescue after a 25-year-old man jumped into the Grand River by the Post Office at Bridge Street Wednesday evening.

According to officials at the scene, the man jumped into about 3 feet of water from at least 10 feet high and became combative with rescue officials when they arrived.  He had to be restrained when being transported to a Grand Rapids hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Grand Rapids officials believe alcohol was a factor in this incident.
