KENT COUNTY, Mich. — A 61-year-old man was killed after his truck sideswiped another car at Alpine Avenue at the westbound I-96 exit 11 a.m. Friday.
Peter Flemings was pronounced dead at the scene, and a child was also pulled from another vehicle he struck and taken to a Grand Rapids hospital with critical injuries.
Michigan State Police say Flemings struck construction barrels on northbound US 131 before merging onto I-96 and then sideswiping a Honda before crashing into a Saturn with his truck at the Alpine exit. The child was taken from the Saturn. The crash remains under investigation.
