GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Communities across America will be gathering for the annual National Night Out, an event that promotes crime prevention activities.

Among the many National Night Out events planned around West Michigan, is the evening that the Salvation Army Kroc Center has put together.  They will be offering free activities that include a giant slip & slide, as well as a free showing of “The Great & Powerful Oz” in their amphitheater.  There will also be free live music, and food that will be available for purchase.  Of course, local police and fire officials will also be there to meet with members of the community.

The Kroc Center is also offering disaster preparedness kits during the event.  They have partnered with the All State Foundation, Points of Light, and United Way to allow residents to assemble hundreds of kits to take home.  They will include hand-crank radios and flashlights, water bottles, dust masks, and more.  They will be available while supplies last.  Their event runs from 5:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. at the Kroc Center located at 2500 S.
