HARTFORD TOWNSHIP. Mich- One man is in jail after assaulting and strangling his ex-girlfriend, then fleeing the scene. This incident happened around 1 a.m. in the 59000 block of Jerrdean Drive.
When Van Buren County Sheriff Deputies arrived at the scene , the suspect Trelas Braddock had fled, and a Van Buren County canine unit was requested to search for the suspect. During the investigation, Deputies learned Braddock had been paroled approximately 2 days before this incident. He was in violation of his parole as he had been drinking.
According to the sheriff deputies, Braddock had assaulted his ex-girlfriend and while he was assaulting her, he strangled her for a short period of time. Also during the incident, he attempted to disrupt her 911 call. At one point, the victim had locked herself in her house when the suspect forced entry into the house and further assaulted her before fleeing the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital for treatment.
He was later located and subsequently arrested.
Braddock is charged with, Home Invasion 2nd Degree, Domestic Assault 3rd Offense, Assault by Strangulation, Interfering with Telecommunications and Parole Violation.
