KENT COUNTY, Mich. — Three people are now in custody following the search of an apartment complex in Grand Rapids tied to an investigation that includes a shooting and a police chase that ended with a crash late Thursday night.

Two potential suspects in the case were taken into custody by a Grand Rapids Special Response Team around 1:00 a.m. Friday following the search of an apartment complex not far from where three suspects crashed a vehicle near 33rd and Eastern in Grand Rapids.

Police say the incident started when shots were fired at Countryside Townhouses on 48th Street in Kentwood late Thursday.  Police chased three male suspects in a red SUV from the scene.  That truck hit a pole at 33rd and Eastern.

One of the suspects in the vehicle was taken into custody shortly after the crash.  The remaining suspects remained on the loose until the two arrests at the apartment complex nearby early Friday morning.

Two guns were found in the truck.

Witnesses at the apartment complex told FOX 17 that kids were playing outside when shots were fired, that bullets were flying everywhere and that nobody was hurt.
