KENTWOOD, Mich. — One of the three suspects arrested after Thursday night’s car chase and manhunt in Kentwood and Grand Rapids has been charged with fleeing and eluding police.

Cody Diandre Howard was taken into custody at the scene of the Grand Rapids crash after allegedly firing shots at Countryside Townhouses on 48th Street in Kentwood and leading police on a chase that ended at 33rd Street and Eastern Avenue SE in Grand Rapids.

Grand Rapids, Kentwood and Wyoming police departments searched the area for hours Thursday night and Friday morning looking for two additional suspects that were allegedly in the truck with Howard.  They were taken into custody as the suspected passengers, but have not yet been charged in relation to this crime.

According to Kentwood police, one of the men was let go and another was arrested on unrelated warrants by Grand Rapids police, but it was unclear which suspect remains behind bars.

In addition to the eluding police charge, Howard was also charged with one count of carrying a concealed weapon and one count of resisting or obstructing a police office.  Two handguns were also located inside his vehicle.
