GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.- Grand Rapids Police are asking you to avoid the area of Kalamazoo Avenue between Adams and Evergreen because of a water main break. The water is so deep that the road is unpassable.

According to the Grand Rapids Water Department, a 24 inch water main broke around 6 a.m. Saturday morning. That main feeds water to residential homes in that area. A few homes lost water. The City has crews working to fix the main and reopen the street.

Consumer Energy reports that 577 customers have lost power due the water main break. Right now, it is unknown when the power will be restored to that area.

The cause of the break is not known at this time.
