Rain And Much Cooler Temperatures Settle Into West Michigan This Weekend

Posted

WEST MICHIGAN — A cold front will swing through the Great Lakes today bringing rain chances back into West Michigan today and through the weekend. Rain showers this morning were mainly confined along and north of the Interstate 96 corridor. More chances for rain will return this afternoon as showers and thunderstorms will develop along and in advance of the cold front as it moves south-east.

Storms that develop this afternoon will likely be scattered in nature and are not expected to become severe but could bring gusty winds in some of the stronger storms. Temperatures this afternoon will warm into the upper 70’s and low 80’s throughout the afternoon and winds will start to become gusty out of the southwest from 10 to 20 miles per hour.

Rain chances will continue through the weekend as a low pressure center will rotate over Michigan bringing with it much cooler air. Afternoon high temperatures will struggle this weekend warming into the upper 60’s and low 70’s and will even be cool enough to allow some lake effect rain showers to develop.

The fall-like temperatures will be short-lived as warmer and more dry conditions return by mid-week.

You can track showers and thunderstorms 24 hours and 7 days a week on the FOX 17 Weather page.
