GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — Five businesses were robbed along US 31 near Grand Haven Township and M-45 Saturday, and the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office say that they might be related to recent business break-ins in Holland and Zeeland.
According to the sheriff’s office, the crimes occurred early Saturday morning, and several windows were smashed in at a strip mall. Two of the businesses had their safes stolen, and money and small electronics were also taken.
Deputies responded to the scene after an alarm went off at New Creation Coffee Company, 13040 US 31 in Grand Haven Township. Mancino’s Pizza, Platenga’s Cleaners and Aquarios Hair Salon in the same strip mall were also broken into. The Green Acres business located on Lake Michigan Drive was also robbed.
Since mid-May, dozens of businesses in Ottawa County have been robbed using a similar method. The suspects strike in the early morning hours, smashing windows and taking cash and sometimes safes from the targeted businesses.
