WEST MICHIGAN — (FOX 17) — With water temperatures in the 70s, it may be tempting to go swimming in Lake Michigan Tuesday. However, gusty northwest winds will produce high waves and the risk of currents, so it’s not a good idea not to venture into Lake Michigan.
Waves on Tuesday will be between 3 and 5 feet. Waves of this height create several risks:
- Strong structural currents
- Strong longshore currents
- Rip currents
