HOLLAND TOWNSHIP, Mich- A man was seriously injured in a crash that happened this past Wednesday, July 17th, has died according to Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department. Wilmur Schipper, 92, a Holland Resident, was the passenger in a vehicle driven by 95-year-old Ernest Voss, also of Holland, at the time of the accident.
Mr. Schipper was pronounced dead at Spectrum Health Butterworth hospital Saturday morning.
Mr. Voss was driving east on Lakewood Boulevard around 4 p.m. Wednesday, July 17 and was attempting a left turn onto 120th Avenue when he turned into the path of a vehicle traveling west on Lakewood Boulevard, according to the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department.
Mr. Schipper suffered serious injuries from the crash that officials say caused his death. Voss sustained minor injuries.
The driver of the other vehicle involved, 27-year-old resident Benjamin Rouwhorst, from West Olive, was not injured.
The accident remains under investigation.
