ZEELAND, Mich. — Mr. Chops, a Zeeland-based Potbellied pig is now the world’s oldest known swine. Mr. Chops celebrated his 21st birthday on June 18. To officially break the record he had to live until July 19.
“To see him reach this age is truly special to us and to so many people who’ve come to know and love him,” owner Mary Rottschaffer said.
Rottschaffer is also the owner of the Critter Barn, a three-acre nonprofit animal farm in Zeeland and the place that Mr. Chops calls home.
The previous record holder was “Oscar” who was born on October 29 1989. Oscar lived with his owner Stacy Leigh Kimbell in Dallas Texas until the age of 21 years.
