Deer Cause Semi Driver to Crash Causing Injuries

Posted

BOSTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. –  A semi driver was injured during a crash in Ionia County on Tuesday, July 16.

It happened at 8:53 a.m. on Portland Road near the intersection of Nash Highway in Boston Township.

The Ionia County Sheriff’s Office says the semi-truck driver, 62 year-old Charlie Sarrell Jr. of Lansing, had been traveling westbound on Portland Road when he swerved to avoid hitting two deer that were crossing the road.

This caused the semi-truck to roll over onto its left side. Sarrell was temporarily trapped inside the truck but was assisted in getting out. He had minor injuries but declined medical attention.
