KENTWOOD, Mich. — Kentwood Police say they have taken a suspect into custody believed to have shot five people at a graduation party on Farmsview Court Sunday night.

The suspect, whose name will not be released until formal charges are filed, is accused of going to a home with several other uninvited people.  An argument broke out before shots were fired.  One of the wounded people remains in critical condition.

“You could just tell the screaming wasn’t right,” said Phil Martin, whose home was the site of the shooting. “Before I could even get down there, you could hear shots fired.”

Martin said his daughter was already in their home safe when the incident broke out. He said that she did not know anyone in the group, but that when they arrived she told them to leave. That’s when he said one of them pushed his daughter out of the way and entered into the backyard. She then called 911.

Anyone with further information bout this crime is asked to call the Kentwood Police Department at 616-698-6480 or Silent Observer at 616-774-2345.
