PORTAGE, Mich.- More details are coming out about the evacuation at Crossroads Mall in Portage last night. Police responded to the mall just after 8:00pm on Friday, July 12th after a parent said his kid had threatened to “shoot it up.”

Police found the suspect’s car in the parking lot and evacuated the mall as a precaution. While they were in the middle of the evacuation, a suspect started calling 911 and making different threats. The suspect told Police that “three people were dead” and that he was headed to an apartment in Kalamazoo to kill more people.

Around 9:30pm, Police found the man on Schuring Road near Oakland Drive, he ran but officers caught up with the 22 year-old-suspect. Police found his phone but no weapons and believe he’s the one responsible for the calls. The suspect is in jail and the Kalamazoo County Prosecutor is reviewing the case.
