movies in the parkGRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — A new poll lets the Grand Rapids community select which movies are shown on an outdoor movie screen downtown.

Voters have more than 20 movies to choose from in the poll, with diverse selections ranging from Back to the Future to The Dark Knight.

Back In June the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) approved the purchase of a $55,000 outdoor movie screen.

DDA executive director Kris Larson said the cost to rent a movie screen and equipment is about half of the purchasing price. The portable screen would give people an opportunity to gather and watch movies in downtown Grand Rapids.

Tim Kelly, a DDA project manager, said the requests for an outdoor movie screen received overwhelmingly positive feedback on Facebook.

The polling will conclude on July 12, and our event dates and titles will be revealed July 15 for the first round of movies. Vote by clicking here http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/PX3S2WJ.
