GRAND RAPIDS TOWNSHIP, Mich. — Some in Grand Rapids are without power Tuesday after a 34-year-old man struck a power pole with his truck while looking down to adjust his radio.

According to Kent County Sheriffs, the incident happened on 4 Mile Road near Bird Avenue NE at around 4:42 p.m.  After adjusting his radio, Joshua Scott looked up and noticed traffic stopped ahead of him.  He drove off the road to avoid rear-ending another vehicle, and struck the pole.  Consumer’s Energy is currently working to restore power to the area.  Scott was not injured.
