Red Wings Take Canadian Junior League Scoring Champ In NHL Draft

DETROIT, Mich. — The Detroit Red Wings got one of the best young scorers in the world with their first round pick in the 2013 NHL Draft on Sunday.

Anthony Mantha, an 18-year-old right winger from Val D’or of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League was taken by Detroit with the 20th overall pick.

The 6’4″, 190-pound Mantha led the QMJHL with 50 goals last season.
