GRAND HAVEN, Mich- A single engine plane has crashed just outside of Grand Haven near the Pottawattomie Bayou Sunday.
The plane crashed into a yard crash happened around 1:05 Sunday afternoon.
The plane is described as a single engine, experimental, homemade biplane. The plane is registered to Robert D. Vink of Spring Lake, according to the FAA Registry.
The plane was on its maiden voyage when the plane had a mechanical failure, lost power then crashed into a back yard. Witnesses at the scene say they did not hear an engine running when the plane went down.
Brian Cannon, the pilot,was the only person in the plane at the time of the crash. He suffered head and neck injuries and was taken to North Ottawa Hospital for treatment. Cannon was taking the plane on its maiden flight for Vink, who said he was glad things didn’t end up worse.
The crash is still under investigation.
