GRAND RAPIDS, Mich.– You have a chance Wednesday to pay it forward and help out young adults with disabilities.

An island-themed benefit is planned to support Olivia’s Gift, an apartment-style living facility for adults with disabilities.

The project was inspired by Olivia Henrickson, who turns 33 years old today. She nearly drowned when she was three years old and now has severe mental and physical disabilities.

The non-profit organization opened its first home on Cascade Road last fall. It’s where one 26-year-old resident took his first steps without a wheelchair.

The event is Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. at The Score Restaurant, 5301 Northland Drive NE in Grand Rapids. There will be live island music, dinner, beach buckets, a silent auction and more.

Advance tickets are $25 and $5 for kids 12 years old and under.
