Storms Cause Flooding of Streets, Parking Lots

GRAND HAVEN, Mich. — A line of thunderstorms coming in off Lake Michigan continues to produce heavy rain, especially in places like Grand Haven.

FOX 17 viewer Andrew Fikoski posted the above photo of water coming several inches up the tires of cars sitting in the parking lot of the Secretary of State’s office.

Earlier this morning, cars were stalled on flooded streets in Kalamazoo as more than two inches of rain feel from storms that moved through the area.

Scattered thunderstorms will continue to produce periods of heavy rain, frequent lightning, and briefly gusty winds as they roll through West Michigan into Tuesday afternoon.

Don’t forget to post your photos to the FOX 17 Facebook page; you can always check out interactive radar on the Weather page as well.

Please remember that you should never drive through standing water if you cannot see the road underneath.
