PLAINWELL, Mich. — The chemical fire at 331 Broad St. in the Plainwell Industrial Park is under control, according to Plainwell City Manager Erik Wilson.

Allegan County Sheriffs are asking that everyone in the immediate area of the Plainwell chemical fire stay away.  They are asking that everyone within 100 yards of the business evacuate the area.  They say that the evacuation is just a precaution, and that the chemicals are not hazardous.

The fire started Monday afternoon after several chemical explosions were reported at The Drug and Laboratory Disposal.  None of the 53 employees were injured, according to company president Brent Walter.
