SPARTA, Mich.- Sparta police have a 33-year-old man in custody after he robbed the Admiral Gas Station on State Street in Sparta.
It happened on Saturday, June 22nd, just after 10pm. Police say a man entered the store with a knife and demanded money and cigarettes. The clerk gave the stuff to the suspect and he left the station on a bike. K-9 dogs were brought in and followed the scent to a nearby house but according to witnesses the suspect had left. While officers were still at the house, the suspect drove back and was arrested.
Officers were able to recover most of the money and cigarettes that were stolen. He is in the Kent County Jail and could be facing armed robbery charges.
