GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The annual Olympics-style Meijer State Games of Michigan kick off on Friday, with the traditional opening ceremonies at Fifth Third Ballpark.
The philosophy behind the Games is that everyone participates regardless of age or ability — everyone is welcome and everyone plays. Dozens of sports and athletic competitions are scheduled, including archery, skateboarding, cycling, boxing, and many more.
Everything begins with the 2013 Opening Ceremonies on Friday. The gates open to the public at 6:30 p.m., and the Parade of Athletes Line-Up follows at 6:50 p.m. The official ceremonies then begin at 7:00 p.m. Admission for spectators is $5 dollars.
The 2013 Meijer State Games of Michigan run from June 21 – June 23.
