GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Thousands of people came downtown Friday for day one of the Grand Rapids Festival of the Arts, and the festival committee said it could not have gone any better.
Festival of the Arts is one of the longest-running festivals in the state marking 44 years, and this year it’s bigger than ever with six stages and 250 acts, as well as 26 non-profit food booths.
In the past, bad weather has plagued the festival, but this year the forecast is sunny. “I can barely get the smile off my face this weekend. We’ve been so excited; it’s been beautiful from the start,” Festival Co-Chair Lori Harrison Smith said.
Festival of the Arts runs Saturday from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
