NEWAYGO, Mich. — Luke Eaves, the Newaygo man who went missing last Friday, was found dead around 1:30 p.m. Thursday in a wooded area near 6 Mile Road and Baldwin Avenue in Newaygo County, according to the Newaygo County Sheriff’s Office.
According to the Sheriff’s Office, Eaves died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound. He was found near his truck that was also missing.
Eaves was last seen in the Baldwin area on Friday, and texted his stepdaughter “Goodbye,” on the same day, according to Newaygo County Sheriff’s deputy Lt. Chad Palmiter.
