GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — Marie Catrib, a staple of the Grand Rapids food scene, passed away Wednesday from ovarian cancer.
A native of Lebanon, the 65-year-old lived in Flint, the Upper Peninsula and North Carolina while learning her craft as a pastry chef.
She and her business were closely associated with the local food movement and sustainability. Family members say that she was such a private person that there will be no funeral or wake.
