GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans will receive the second place prize they won from the Home Depot Foundation on Thursday.
The competition was called Aprons in Action and the home was in the running for a $250,000 prize. As a second place winner, the home will receive a prize of $150,000.
An award ceremony and check presentation will take place at 2 p.m. followed by food, cake, and live music at the home.
The Grand Rapids Home for Veterans participated in the year-long contest and, in February, won a $25,000 grant that made it a finalist, along with eight other organizations, for the $250,000 prize.
