GRAND RAPIDS, Mich – The organizers of ArtPrize say the number of registrations has exceeded their expectations this year.
“We are thrilled with the group of registered 2013 ArtPrize artists” said Kevin Buist, Director of Exhibitions. “Since day one, ArtPrize has sought to lower barriers to participation and promote dialogue among a wide variety of people. In the fifth year of the festival, we see this mission carried out, welcoming artists young and old, amateur and professional, local and international.”
In addition, hundreds of connections have already been made between artists and venues.
“More than 500 connections between artists and venues have already been made, and this is just the beginning,” said Buist. “In the remainder of the connection period, we look forward to watching more and more creative collaborations continue to transpire.”
Artists have through June 20 to find a venue to host their work.
More than 180 venues will showcase artwork within a three-square mile area in downtown Grand Rapids.
Venues range from city parks to rooftops to museums to restaurants. A complete list of artists and their corresponding venues are available here.
ArtPrize 2013 is open Sept. 18 through Oct. 6.
