jackwhiteDETROIT, Mich- The troubled Masonic Temple in Detroit has announced that musician Jack White is the one who stepped forward to pay off their outstanding tax bills.

WXYZ reports that White paid off $142,000, which saved the Masonic Temple from foreclosure. Officials at the venue say that White stepped forward because he’s played there so many times in the past, and because his mother used to be an usher there. Both White and his mother reportedly share a “profound love for the Gothic structure.”

In honor of Jack’s generosity, officials with the Temple say they’ll be naming the Cathedral Theater the ‘Jack White Theater’. That newly renamed theater is capable of seating 1,586 people.
