SPRING LAKE, Mich. — A 15-year-old boy is recovering after a car hit him on Sunday evening, and police are asking for the public’s help in finding the driver.
The hit-and-run crash happened shortly after 6:00 p.m. on Cleveland Street near 144th Avenue in Spring Lake. The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the teen was riding his moped along Cleveland, when a car passed him. The car then attempted to turn in to a business parking lot, but went directly in the moped’s path.
The two vehicles collided, but the car drove away from the scene. The teen was taken to the hospital, where he is listed in good condition. He was wearing a helmet.
Witnesses were able to get a partial license plate number of CMZ, and described the car as a green Pontiac — possibly a Grand Am or a Grand Prix. The driver was described as a man in his early twenties.
Anyone with information in this case is asked to call the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office at 1-800-249-0911.
