BRIGHTON, Mich. — Funeral plans have been announced for a former football star at Grand Valley State University who was found dead after going fishing.

Cullen Finnerty, 30, will be remembered at a mass on Tuesday morning at 11 at St. Mary Magdalen Parish in Brighton, on the state’s east side. That’s according to Grand Valley State University.

Visitation happens there on Monday from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Then Finnerty will be buried at St. Hedwig Cemetery in Dearborn Heights. He leaves behind a wife, son and daughter.

Finnerty went fishing Sunday evening in Lake County but never returned. His body was found on Tuesday near his boat, and autopsy results are inconclusive.

Finnerty was a quarterback at GVSU for Division II national championships in 2003, 2005 and 2006. His 51-4 record when he left GVSU made him the winningest quarterback in NCAA history, from any division.
