CHICAGO — Brent Seabrook scored 3:35 into overtime to give the Chicago Blackhawks a 2-1 win in Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals over the Detroit Red Wings.
The game may have never made it to overtime. Blackhawks defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson appeared to score the game-winning goal with 1:47 left in the third period, but the goal was called off by referee Stephen Walkom. Walkom called coincidental penalties to Red Wings defenseman Kyle Quincey and Blackhawks forward Brandon Saad just moments before Hjalmarsson beat Jimmy Howard with a slap shot.
Henrik Zetterberg scored the game-tying goal 26 seconds into the third period off a terrific feed from Gustav Nyquist. Nyquist was on the line because Valtteri Filppula was injured by an Andrew Shaw slewfoot early in the first period.
Patrick Sharp opened the scoring 1:08 into the first period. Chicago now moves on to face the Los Angeles Kings in the Western Conference Finals.
