PARK TWP, Mich.- Police say Barbara Westveer, 55, was last heard from in a phone call to her husband and friend around 10, Monday night.  Tuesday morning, she failed to show up for an appointment and that’s when her husband began to worry.  He called neighbors and friends who all said they hadn’t heard from her.

Lieutenant Mark Bennett with the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Department says, “The husband reported that she failed to show up for an appointment that he had with her to meet with a professional consultant, financial consultant.”

Bennett says there is no sign of foul play, “The house seems to be very well-kept, everything’s in its place, no signs of a struggle or breaking or entering or anything of that nature.”

Westveer left behind her cell phone, wallet, car and her medication.  Bennett says, “There is some history, depression history, in this case but there’s no immediate threat or nothing in the last few days that would make us think depression would play a role.”

But, neighbors say Westveer’s been acting strange the past few days.  Neighbor Kathy Cook recalls seeing her on Sunday, “We waved to her and she just kind of put her hand up after the fact like she hardly knew who we were and just kept walking to her house.”

Barbara lives near Lake Macatawa, where the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Marine Unit was out searching today with no luck.

Neighbor Violet Zenz says she’s uneasy and worried about her friend, “She usually brings my trash bucket up for me when I have it out on the road so I don’t have to do it. She’s a nice gal, very intelligent.”

Barbara Westveer is 55-years-old, 6’1” and 160 lbs.  She has grey hair and green eyes.  Anyone with information on her disappearance can call the Silent Observer Tip line at 1-877-88-SILENT or Ottawa County Central Dispatch.
