KENT COUNTY, Mich – Three people were injured, including a Kent County Sheriff’s Deputy, following a two vehicle crash near the corner of Fulton Street and the East Beltline late Wednesday evening.

Investigators at the scene tell FOX17 the deputy’s police cruiser was stopped at a red light heading eastbound on Fulton Street when a car crashed into the back of it.  The deputy also had a college ride along in the cruiser during the time of the crash.

Both the deputy and the college ride along are seeking treatment for whiplash type injuries sustained in the crash.  The driver of the car involved, a female in her 20’s, was transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  Everyone involved is expected to recover.

Investigators say the preliminary investigation shows alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, and charges are expected for the female driver involved.  The crash remains under investigation this evening.
