Two Teens Arrested After Car Break-Ins

Posted

PORTAGE, Mich — Two teenagers were arrested while apparently fleeing the neighborhood from which they’d been breaking into cars.

Early Thursday morning, a Portage resident called police about suspicious people in between the houses on Isabelle near Edgefield.

Portage Department of Public Safety officers went to the area around 3:30 a.m. and stopped a vehicle that was quickly leaving the area. The two males inside admitted to breaking into vehicles around the neighborhood. Then, officers recovered stolen property both from the vehicle, and that the suspects had thrown from the vehicle before being stopped.

A 19-year-old man from Schoolcraft was taken to the Kalamazoo County Jail, for breaking and entering of an auto. The second suspect, a 15-year-old boy from Portage, was released to his parent, and charges for breaking and entering of an auto will be requested.

If you have any information on this incident, you’re asked to call the Portage Department of Public Safety at 269-329-4567.
