KALAMAZOO, Mich. — Family members identify Tawana Fullerton as a victim of a deadly shooting on Kalamazoo’s northside.

Police said Fullerton and a male friend were walking in the area of Florence and Cobb Street after 2 am, Tuesday morning.

A car pulled up. According to a resident who spoke with one of the victims, the man in the vehicle asked Fullerton and her friend if they were ok. Fullerton’s friend said ‘yes.’ That’s when the man in the car opened fire.

The resident tells FOX 17 she heard about 6 gunshots.

Fullerton and her friend were rushed to area hospitals. She died upon arrival. Her friend is in critical condition.

Fullerton was the grandmother of one of the three young victims that died in the Interfaith fire in February, one year old Ty’onna Henderson.
