GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. — (FOX 17) A pleasant weekend ahead with temperatures warming into the upper 70’s and low 80’s. Light rain showers this morning north of Grand Rapids will come to an end and we will see a partly cloudy afternoon. Skies clear through the overnight allowing temperatures to drop into the 50’s by sunrise. Temperatures start warming quickly by Sunday morning with afternoon high temperatures getting up into the low 80’s.
Warmer weather and a system off to our west will bring in chances late Monday for afternoon thunderstorms to develop. At this point, it looks like storms that do develop could become strong in the afternoon and early evening hours. The Storm Prediction Center has put all of West Michigan under a slight risk category for strong storms. Gusty winds, lightning and small hail look to be the most common hazard among any storms that do develop.
We will keep an eye on this system as it develops in the Central Plains and keep you updated on any changes to the forecast.
