KENT CITY, Mich. — The Kent County Sheriff’s Office has located a missing 75-year-old woman.
The search for Maria Rebecca Ayala began at 3:35 p.m. Tuesday. Sheriff’s office officials said the woman was last seen walking southbound on M-37 at 15 Mile Road near Kent City at noon Tuesday.
They said the missing woman suffers from dementia.
Ayala walked away from her residence on South Main Street NW in Kent City at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday.
She was last seen wearing a light blue sweater, dark brown pants and dark brown shoes. Ayala answers to the name “Becky” and is described as a Hispanic female standing 5-feet-4, weighing 140 pounds with short gray hair.
In the past she has been located walking toward Holland.
On Tuesday evening, the Kent County Sheriff’s Office said that at 6:15 p.m. Ayala had been confirmed to be at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Rapids. Just before 2 p.m. a Good Samaritan located Ayala walking on Grand Rapids’ southwest side and appearing confused. Grand Rapids police were contacted and they transported Ayala to the hospital due to her confusion.
With assistance from news medic coverage, the Good Samaritan contacted the Kent County Sheriff’s Office and advised them of the new information about Ayala.
