MOUNT PLEASANT, Mich- Kayla Bonkowski is going to jail for attempting to poison her roommate last November. On Friday, Isabella County Trial Judge Mark Duthie sentenced her to eight months in jail, four to be served under house arrest instead of behind bars. Also Bonkowski was sentenced to three years of probation according to The Morning Sun of Mount Pleasant.
This sentence stems from an incident in November at an off-campus apartment where Bonkowski lived with a 20-year old female student.
According to Michigan State Police, the two women got into a fight over some dirty dishes, and that’s when Bonkowski put bleach in her roommate’s iced tea.
Bonkowski told police in a written statement that she put the bleach in the drink because her roommate was “mean,” according to the criminal complaint. Bonkowski entered a guilty plea to attempted poisoning last month.
