JENISON, Mich. — David Kool was Western Michigan University’s all-time leading scorer as a player, now he’s hoping to pass on his skills and his knowledge of the game – at the high school level.
Kool has been named the next boys basketball coach at Jenison High School.
The 25-year-old was previously an assistant at Western Michigan University. As a player at South Christian high school, Kool was named the 2006 Mr. Basketball award winner.
“I feel so blessed that I am able to take over at Jenison as the new head varsity basketball coach and Dean of Students,” Kool told FOX 17.
“Jenison is a great school and has a great history and I am just proud that they are welcoming me into their family. I cannot wait to get up there and start working with the guys and making them not only better on the court but better people off the court as well,” said Kool.
Kool replaces Brett Dyke who coached at Jenison for 11 seasons.
