MARNE, Mich- A pedestrian was struck by a vehicle and killed this afternoon around 3:30 p.m. on 24th Avenue near Cleveland St. just north of Marne in Ottawa County.
Aero Med arrived at the scene and then left, because the victim had died.
Sheriffs’ say 55 year old Jeffery Looman of Walker was headed west on Musketawa Trail and did not stop at the 24th Street intersection, at which point he was hit by a southbound car driven by a 56-year-old Coopersville man.
The vehicle could not stop in time and struck Looman. Looman was then thrown into the ditch
According to Ottawa County Sheriffs’ the victim had serious head injuries and died at the scene.
Looman was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
The accident is still under investigation.
