ANAHEIM, Calif. – The Detroit Red Wings lost to the Anaheim Ducks in their series opener, with a final score of 3 – 1.
Teemu Selanne scored the game-winner early in the third period, and Francois Beauchemin added an empty-netter to seal Detroit’s fate. Anaheim’s first goal came from a Nick Bonino power play in the first period. Daniel Cleary registered the lone Detroit goal, while Jimmy Howard allowed two goals on 26 shots for the Red Wings.
Game 2 of the best-of-seven series is slated for Thursday in Anaheim.
